Location

  • The Anyang city is located in the south central part of Kyunggi province, about 25km away from Seoul and about 19km away from the North of Suwon, which is the seat of an office for provincial government. In addition, it is located in approximately 44km east-south of Incheon, which is a barrier station of the western sea.
  • For administrative division purpose, the Anyang city adjoins with Seoul and five cities.
  • It adjoins with Gawcheon city and Uiwang city to the east, Gwangmyung city and Siheung city to the west, Kunpo city to the south and adjoins with Gwanak-gu and Guemcheon-gu of north part of Seoul.

Climates

  • Distinctive four seasons and in general, cold and dry in the winter and hot and humid in the summer.
  • The average annual temperature is about 12.3℃, which is about 1℃ higher than the past. The year on average rainfall is about 1,198mm, and the rain comes intensively between June and August. The rainfalls during these times take about 66% of the total rainfall.

Geographical features of Anyang

  • In Anyang, there is the Suri Mountain at the southwest and the Gwanak Mountain, the Samsung Mountain at the northern part and it is forming a valley in an oval shape in the middle.
  • Anyang is located in the southwest from Seoul and the city is developed around the upper reaches of Anyang River, which is the branch of Han River. Agriculture and industries were developed around the Anyang River and the water of Anyang River has been used for agricultural and commercial water and people took the Anyang River valley as the grounds of living. Unlike other cities, industries of Anyang were developed from the early stage and roads to stretch out in every direction were developed which performs a key role as the center of transportation.
